No one called a naming company for this one: Loudcloud assumes a new brand
personality with Opsware.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 20, 2002. In what may portend increased precipitation, Netscape wunderkind Mark Andressen's follow-up venture, Loudcloud, is ditching the web hosting business and its name, in a deal announced today with EDS.

EDS is buying the Loudcloud hosting business, and Loudcloud will cut workers and re-group under a new name to sell its software for "automating the management of big computer systems," says the San Francisco Chronicle. Oh, and their new name? It's...wait for it...Opsware. We'll tastefully refrain from making the obvious joke.

Oops, couldn't resist.
